Tradewater HFC Reclamation

HFC Reclamation

Tradewater is a project development firm and B-Corp that is focused on the collection, control and destruction of potent non-CO2 greenhouse gases around the world. Tradewater’s carbon offset projects from reclaimed hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) support the global phase down of these harmful refrigerants via the Kigali Amendment and country commitments to phase down their production and use. Carbon offset credits are generated from the recycling or reclamation of HFC materials according to the protocols set forth by the American Carbon Registry (ACR). All our work with ACR is third-party verified to ensure compliance and quality. There is currently no mandate to reclaim HFCs. And while production of HFCs is still permitted until fully phased out, reclaimed HFCs effectively displaces the production of new HFCs. This is an important measure to reduce the overall stock of HFC refrigerants that are likely to be released into the atmosphere. This strategy is identified as a top solution to prevent catastrophic climate change identified by Project Drawdown.
